Adrienne Burke Chapelle Adrienne's journey into the world of
ceramics, art, and pottery began in high school when she began making coil
pots and other hand-built pieces, several of which her parents still
display in their home.
In college, Adrienne majored in geology, but still found time to take the odd ceramics class now and then. As a working geologist and mother, she drifted away from pottery for a while. But just before the birth of her fourth child (1993), she began taking lessons with Columbia ceramics artist Johnny Nutt. Gradually, the avocation turned into a full-time calling. By 1999 she was showing her work in local shows, managing the ceramics studio at Crooked Creek Park, and giving lessons and workshops. An accomplished cook, she naturally gravitated toward making functional pottery for the kitchen. Today she specializes in food-safe, dishwasher-safe kitchenware designed for practicality and ease of use, as well as elegantly-designed stoneware for use on the table. |
